Visit the pyramid of Cheops in VR, a blazing immersion to VivaTech

The Parisian company specializing in virtual reality, is offering a historic discovery to many at this year's global innovation event.
Visit the pyramid of Cheops and admire the latest discoveries made there? Nothing's easier. Thanks to the company Emissive, all you need is an Oculus Rift virtual reality headset and a computer worn as a backpack to be transported in a few seconds to its booth at the Viva Technology World Innovation Fair. From the outside, passersby see a handful of participants slowly walking blindly behind each other in an empty space of 60 square meters. Under the helmet, they have the impression to walk in the famous pyramid, in real size, avoiding the obstacles that arise by reflex.
In addition to bluffing immersion, the company created twelve years ago allows you to experience this experience at several simultaneous. Normally, it lasts 45 minutes on 200 square meters and works up to 20 participants. Even with a helmet on their nose, they see the silhouettes of others wandering in the galleries of the Egyptian site reconstituted in computer graphics. "It's like networked video games, except that the location of participants must be very precise," says Fabien Barati, CEO of Emissive, which has 25 employees in Paris.
Event communication and training
While theme parks represent potential customers, its technology is mainly used for event communication and training, by companies such as Lacoste, Orange, Ikea, Adidas, Total, SNCF and Dassault Systèmes
Entertainment applications are still marginal but should become more important in the future when VR really becomes more democratic, says Fabien Barati. Emissive, which achieved a turnover of 2.7 million euros in 2017, has never raised funds but plans to do so to develop in this segment.
